Camino de Encanto

Originally built in 1955, this 1-story, 1,420 sq. ft. home offered stunning, unobstructed ocean views from the backyard. The homeowner’s main goal was to maximize these ocean views from the interior of the house. However, the challenge came from the property’s location in the hillside overlay of Torrance, which restricted the possibility of adding another story. To work within these constraints, we extended the house towards the backyard, ensuring that the design still left ample space for a generous yard, swimming pool, and barbecue areas perfect for family activities. The house design was inspired by the principles of Frank Lloyd Wright, embracing a warm contemporary style with overhangs and indoor - outdoor organic integration with the surrounding environment, making the most of both the breathtaking views and the limited space available.
