Revere

The Jamaican Plantation-inspired home project was brought to us by the owner with a vision of creating an island-style retreat in the suburbs of Boston. However, the design presented unique challenges, particularly given Boston's harsh winter climate and the site's location in a special flood hazard area with a 100-year flood elevation of 10 feet. To address these challenges, we designed the home with raised foundations, elevating the house by 7 feet. This raised foundation not only met the flood zone requirements but also provided the ideal height to capture unobstructed over the sand dunes of the ocean and downtown Boston views. Expansive open decks were incorporated to maximize these stunning vistas, allowing for seamless indoor-outdoor living. The backyard was strategically designed with direct access from the kitchen, creating the perfect space for large gatherings and entertainment. The four-car garage was built at grade level and a height variance was requested, offering practical functionality while keeping the living spaces elevated. Despite the challenges, the design blends form and function, creating a home that feels connected to its surroundings while offering luxury.
