2,450 sq.ft. | 4 Bedrooms 4.5 Bathrooms | 2018 | Manhattan Beach, CA
This project involved transforming a historically significant Manhattan Beach property into two stunning, contemporary ocean-view townhomes. Originally the childhood home of artist Gary Sweeney, the property held rich memories, including personal touches such as stairs built by his father and a magnolia tree that grew from a sapling gifted by the PTA. Upon the property’s sale to Richard Haynes Development, Harry Designs was tasked with reimagining the space.
The original, nearly century-old wood-framed duplex was demolished to make room for two luxurious townhomes designed with modern coastal living in mind. The design incorporates sleek, open-concept floor plans, with expansive decks and panoramic ocean views stretching from Palos Verdes to Malibu. Each townhome features spacious living areas, high-end finishes, and a seamless indoor/outdoor flow facilitated by bi-folding doors that open up to breathtaking outdoor spaces.
One unit offers 2,400 square feet, four bedrooms, and a basement ideal for a home theater or office, while the other unit boasts 2,000 square feet and three bedrooms. These new townhomes not only provide modern amenities and a sophisticated design but also preserve the unique spirit of the original property, offering a perfect blend of history and modern luxury in one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in Manhattan Beach.
